How to Maintain Healthy Skin

Our skin is the largest organ in our body.  It protects and internalizes all that is physically you. Your skin is your best friend.  You should know that your skin has a mind of it's own.  The skin is a communication device to what is going on within you.  Your skin will tell you many things, please stop and listen.  When skin looks swollen, and your eyes are sunken, it is communicating to you that you are dehydrated or perhaps you had too much salt.  It's trying to tell you that you need water.

“A cream cannot solve all your problems, and neither can eating organic for a week. If you have a healthy eating regimen your whole life, you will be a healthier person. If you have a regimen of protecting your skin your whole life, your skin will look better longer.”
— ISABELLA ROSSELLINI

These points are what most of your other organs need to keep your whole existence in check:

  1. Water - Stay well hydrated with plenty of water, minimum 12 glasses of water per day.

  2. Sleep - You need time to rejuvenate.  Sleep is the best remedy for dark circles under the eyes.  Even weight loss! (but that is another topic)

  3. Diet - What you eat reflects in your skin.  Consider cutting back on the following foods:

    •  Salt (causes bloating and excess water retention)

    • Sugar (flushes your skin and lowers your immune system)

    • Alcohol (dehydrates and is toxic in general)

  4. Sun - Monitor sun exposure.  Our body needs the sun for warmth, vitamin D absorption and to brighten our mood.  Excess can cause premature aging and permanent damage to the skin.

  5. Stress - Be good to yourself.  We experience stress in our system when we retain something that does not serve us and it causes problems to all your organs.

  6. Nourish and Protect - After a long day, feed your skin and protect it from radicals and oxidation. Temptress Skincare can help!
